EMC Engineer

Job Description:
This individual will work closely with business unit (BU) engineers and technicians in designing and testing Miller Electric equipment for EMC /EMI (electromagnetic compatibility/interference). In addition to testing, this position will continue to enhance Miller Electric's proactive and holistic approach within the product development and product support processes. This person must have strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills. Additional responsibilities include scheduling all in-house and outsourced testing, working closely with the outside test facilities, generating and maintaining test reports within the product technical files, drafting test procedures and forms, procuring EMC related items, calibration of and general maintenance of test equipment. Finally, this person will participate in EMC committee work at the local levels.
Requirements:
. B.S. in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of experience in designing and testing for EMC . Familiar with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), DFMEA, DOE, high power SMPS design . Experience, familiarity, and lab skill using standard EMC related test equipment . Ability to test, debug, and characterize circuits . Ability to model and analyze analog/digital circuits via PSpice . Familiar with schematic design and layout of multi-layer PCBs . Good understanding and application of statistics and statistical analysis . iNARTE EMC certification required . Exposure to uncertainty budgets . Must have a thorough understanding of the EMC standards such as IEC 60974-10 (or equivalent), IEC 61000, and CISPR 11, test setup, assessment of test results, and test report writing/documentation . Analytical, organized, and detail oriented- with the ability to concurrently manage several projects . Effective Communicator - able to understand and interpret technical information pertaining to EMC and communicate this information to business units . Well networked with key BU engineers and outside technical resources . Limited travel may be required
