*Install, configure and maintain radio communications components; troubleshoot system failures, performance deficiencies and circuit/wiring issues

*Isolate faults and analyze complex system failures and performance degradation and effects or advise on system recovery/restoration/repair, either remotely or in the field

* Plan strategic and tactical disaster recovery survival scenarios based on different threat levels; develop and control security mechanisms to ensure against unauthorized access to the system software and databases

*Initiate, review and analyze complex system performance and reliability measurements and reports

*Function as Project Manager on assigned projects; maintain records and prepare/submit reports and correspondence as required by immediate supervisor

Requirements:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics or a related field. Qualifying experience may be a substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience:
Seven years of professional telecommunications industry (700 MHz, 800MHz, VHF, or 4.9 GHz) experience including two years of planning, design, and construction of radio communications projects. Experience must include working with large, multi-site radio and/or microwave networks (conventional and/or trunked radio systems).

Experience with Microsoft office suite and Microsoft Project

License:
Valid FCC General Radiotelephone License issued by Federal Communications Commission

Valid California Driver's License

Physical Requirement:
Ability to drive four-wheel drive vehicle in rural environment

MANAGER RADIO CONTROL SYSTEMS
Assist Assistant Director of Radio Systems in the maintenance, installation and management of Metro-North's communication system (radio and public address) including Operations Services, Police, Maintenance of Way radio systems, and Public Address and Visual Information systems. RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Senior Circuit Engineer Signal Design in the development of safety critical designs, plans, and layouts for Metro-North's wayside signal system. Ensure adherence to all Metro-North, Federal and State requirements and regulations relating to railroad signal system. Design and engineer Vital and Non-Vital signal circuits. Design modifications to the various signal systems of Metro-North, ensuring the safety and integrity of the signal systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and engineer modifications, additions, and interfaces for new and existing signal systems, maintain integrity and assure safety of the signal systems.
  • Check and review other design projects and An-In-Service plans executed by other Circuit Engineers and Assistant Circuit Engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Railway Administration (FRA) regulations for wayside signal system and grade crossings.
  • Manage and provide technical assistance and information to Signal Department personnel, Field Construction and Maintenance forces. Supports implementation of systems with field construction.

Job Description:
Perform detailed circuit design and documentation for power supply and lighting systems. Support R&D activities and prototype development of circuit designs as well as assist in environmental testing of systems. Primary design responsibility includes portions of larger system design, test equipment, prototypes and component selection.

Requirements:
EMI/EMC design, troubleshooting, and testing Bachelors Degree (preferably Electrical Engineering)

Special Requirements:
Aerospace background
Knowledge of Military Standards/DOD Standards
