Revision of Question Pools 1 and 7 Begins
The FCC has begun the long process of reviewing and updating the question pools for the Marine Radio Operator Permit and GMDSS Operator commercial licenses. In a report released November 15th, 2000, the FCC reported that the National GMDSS Implementation Task Force has examined the current pools and submitted to the FCC a completely revised model test pool for Element 7. The FCC will be accepting comments on this proposed pool until the end of December.
Should this new pool be accepted, iNARTE anticipates the new pools for Elements 1 and 7 may be effective as soon as Fall of 2001. If you would like more information, contact Sandy Felone or Laura Holmberg at NARTE Headquarters.

The new silver and blue NARTE membership cards have been finding their way to NARTE Technicians for the last three months. The positive response from NARTE members receiving their new cards has been exciting and the excitement appears to be contagious... Until then, iNARTE would like to extend an offer to any current NARTE member: For a fee of $3, (to cover processing and mailing costs) we will issue a new card on request.
Please contact iNARTE headquarters if you would like a new card and we'll be happy to oblige.

NMA (No More Acronyms)!
A few requests from NARTE Members have been received regarding an additional designation for EMC or ESD. It was taken into consideration and discussed
at the October 2000 Board Meeting. It was recommended that the NCE and NCT
designators remain the only ones for NARTE individuals.
These acronyms are very usable and very appropriate abbreviations that represent
distinctive achievement and expertise. They may be used after the name of the CURRENTLY CERTIFIED individual and/or in conjunction with the NARTE logo on business cards, forms, stationary or advertisement.
Should you need a camera-ready copy of the NARTE logo, please advise the headquarters, or request by email. You may also order a NARTE embosser that depicts the name of the certified individual and his/her certification number.
